The mayor appointed a politically connected pastor, not a transit expert, to the CTA’s oversight board.

The appointment came the same week Gov. JB Pritzker called for “new leadership” at the CTA. Most people on the board aren’t transit experts.

It’s noteworthy what the mayor doesn’t say: service, frequency, and reliability. Security and folks in crisis are key parts of the ridership experience of course, but at the end of the day the problem is that people can’t rely on the CTA to get around.

So no, you don’t get it.

The CTA under its current leadership doesn't fix severe, lingering, system-threatening problems, it simply repackages them with duct tape and PR flim-flam. If the the failure is not addressed, it will take the city down with it.
