The Duchess of Cornwall today attended a medals parade for the 4th Battalion The Rifles at New Normandy Barracks, Aldershot. The Duchess has been Royal Colonel of the Battalion since 2006.

Her Royal Highness meets members of the Battalion and their families. 4 RIFLES trains, advises, assists, mentors and accompanies the soldiers of overseas partners, helping them to develop their own capability and prevent crisis.

“Your teams have been sent to work all over the world making each new deployment a different challenge.” “Often in arduous terrain and unfamiliar climates, your ability to adapt quickly to cultural and physical demands are an enormous credit to this formidable Battalion.”

Today, 10th July 2019, marks 51 years since the formation of The Light Infantry in 1968. They would go on to serve with distinction for nearly four decades, until they were finally amalgamated with three other regiments to form The Rifles on the 1st February 2007.
