In a bed of seagrass, millions of foraminifera are hiding. You just have to look in the right place to find them! Seagrass leaves are the favorite substrate of Sorites. During fieldwork @EBGirard studies forams, assisted by Andi M.A. Pratama. See also 4d-reef.eu/esr/elsa-girar…

Last month many 4D-Reefers schooled with other reef enthusiasts at ICRS 2022 - 15. International Coral Reef Symposium! Dive into Max Fursman and Leo Bertini's adventure here: 4d-reef.eu/4d-reef-at-the…

Crustose coralline algae (CCA) sampling in turbid and clear water reefs of Spermonde is ending for Dino Ramos and Dedi. CCA are hard calcareous red algae. They're easy to overlook, but stabilize reefs and trigger coral settlement!

Finally in the warm water! So excited of operating the HyperDiver in its natural habitat - in reefs of Spermonde, Indonesia. Using spectral AI, Daniel Schurholz aims at creating habitat maps across depth and turbidity gradients in 6 islands. #fieldwork Stay tuned!

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS! Much reefs in the Coral Triangle grow in turbid water habitats, heavily influenced by land runoff, often referred as marginal conditions. Join this session to learn the about turbid reefs. Kyle Morgan @willem_foram @EBGirard Submit here: abstracts.apcrs2023.org

Days in the field, seminars with local experts and more! The 4D-Reef ESRs went to the Spermonde, Indonesia, for the fifth Network and Training Activity. Read all about Mariya Perepelytsya and Katt Maxwell's experiences in the first week here: 4d-reef.eu/nta5/

Getting a clear picture of turbid reefs: ESRs Estradivari, Daniel Schurholz and Dino Ramos teamed up with Indonesian students Andi M.A. Pratama, Gunawan and Phita, to identify organisms living in turbid reefs using #AI of underwater images. Read it all here!4d-reef.eu/digitizing-the…

Over the summer Max Max Fursman went to the 6th International Sclerochronology Conference in Japan, representing 4D-Reef and #Tridacna! Read all about his scientific (and culinary) adventures in his blog 4d-reef.eu/isc/

Congrats Dr. Singgih A Putra for passing your PhD defense!

Training in the #field: the sequel! Read and see all about the second week of the 4D-Reef training activity in Indonesia, in the second #photo blog of Mariya Perepelytsya and Katt Maxwell. Read all about it here: 4d-reef.eu/nta5-2/
