Our Sunset Mountain cam captured the Aurora Borealis as it started this evening.

Wait for it, you'll see the colors start to pop toward the end of the video, about 13 seconds in (sadly, it goes a touch blurry, but, still cool!)

Brief, but, spectacular! A wave of aurora borealis washed over our area this evening. I didn’t get to see it myself! But, those who did say it lasted only about 15 minutes at most.

Darby Bybee Northern Lights from Goshen

Friends, a G5 Geomagnetic Storm definitely makes it more possible to see the Araura on northern horizon (also makes potential for disruptions in in communications/GPS & all kinds of other things more likely). Still want to be well away from city lights, but, could be interesting.

Do not. I repeat, DO NOT try to drive north on I 49 between Mountainburg and West Fork. No idea why the construction just north of the tunnel is causing this big of a problem, but, it is!

You’ll also want to avoid the northbound lanes from Johnson to Lowell. Rough evening.

This will be something to watch later today, tonight & throughout the weekend. Disruptions will be possible.

And wouldn't say it would be be impossible to see the Aurora from NW AR tonight or Sat night. Would have to be very far from city lights. But, possible.
