We tried to bring home some BC-breds at the Alberta sale today but came up empty. Hopefully, for the breeders’ sake, the prices I saw while bidding were real and not just reserves. People really do care about Hastings Racecourse and do want to see a future for horse racing in Vancity

The X - Vancouver Whitecaps FC showed grit tonight. Down to 9 men yet they refused to fold. They had 53,957 people behind them and it felt like every one of them pushed the team forward. You watched a team refuse to quit. Vancouver showed up and the Whitecaps responded.

Time for the Vancouver Canucks to face reality. Move assets now. Sick of watching this team stay in the bottom half. Ownership has no direction. Management feeds it. The coach has failed everywhere, still here because of his playing career. Fans deserve a real plan, not another patch job.

I’m disgusted and disappointed. The government just pulled slot-revenue from horseracing Hastings Racecourse . That’s rural jobs erased. What did they swap it for? Shame on #NDP. Shame on you, Premier David Eby. This province is falling apart under policies like this.

The BC NDP call it “careful analysis.” It is a walkaway from rural jobs and a 138 year industry with no plan to replace it. They ignored the ripple effect on suppliers, vets, breeders, transport, trainers, jockeys. Talk of stadium, no talk of the people who worked 7 days a week.

The BC NDP will throw our money away supporting shipbuilding jobs in China but have no interest in keeping people working in BC. Shame on you Nina Krieger for turning your back on Hastings Racecourse

Pulling slot revenue from Hastings Racecourse raises real questions. Is this about horse racing, or about positioning the casino license for a future move. Hard to know whether this was a decision Nina Krieger made based on facts or just that BC NDP needs 💰

That is not the reason this happened. This was a move made by a government that is spending money hand over fist and looking for any crumbs they could find. If you wanted to close down Hastings Racecourse to move the casino license then do it with some notice, class and respect

Do you think that maybe that Great Canadian mismanaged and forced many owners out of Hastings Racecourse as part of their plan? I am an owner and can tell you it has been frustrating to say the least. There is a reason for the numbers
