Thanks to my friend Jason Osborne for the invite to today’s Kansas City multifamily development conference. I left more convinced than ever that the best thing we can do for public safety, for our impending fiscal cliff & to improve basic services is simple…build more housing.

The Kansas City region needs to build wayyy more housing. Proud of my 100% voting record in approving housing projects in Overland Park.

If I had moved to KC 5-10 years ago, Jimmy and I would have probably argued a lot about housing on here. But I didn’t and we don’t.

Yesterday, batteries supplied 27% of the power at peak demand in California. A true "energy dominance" policy agenda would recognize the massive benefits of solar + storage.

Too many neighborhoods are blighted by used car lots with too little space, too many non-working vehicles, weeds, broken fences, and trash. We’re changing that. Proud to introduce new standards for upkeep and decent facilities. City Planning Cmms’n approved the item today.

My preferred way to see the city is by jogging every street, but walking them is objectively the most informative. Urbanism is best enjoyed at human speed.

Which Chicago ZIP codes had the most growth in low-income households over the last 10 years? You might be surprised that it's the Loop and West Loop! That's bc they've built lots of new housing, including a many affordable units through the ARO (i.e. inclusionary zoning)

For the past month, I’ve been working on a project to map out and document the work of one of the most prolific storefront sign painters in the US - this is Detroit’s Ron Signs
