Not long after this book came out I received an appreciative email from Lenny Kaye (soft lad that I am, it made me cry), on the back of which we began a brief correspondence. Not heard from Lenny in years apart from a deluge of spam that, fittingly, offers me ‘free money’.

“Phil Shaw reminds me at times of the late great David Berman (Silver Jews) with a theatricality and presence and a touch of self-deprecatory humour”. I’ll take that. Thank you ⁦Backseat Mafia⁩ backseatmafia.com/premiere-alber…

I agree with Alice. My experience of Musk’s ‘X’ site is one of incremental decline. I still enjoy most of the content, and will miss the fun, inspiration and information that I glean from my favourite tweeters but the secret of a good life is knowing when it’s time to go.
