Justin Trudeau did not make me a Liberal.
Stephen Harper did.
Pierre Poilievre is working hard to ensure I remain a Liberal

On Pierre Poilievre's campaign website, he lists 4 priorities. #2 is 'RECLAIM CANADIAN VALUES'. Quote: 'We need to get back to the basics. It’s time to stand up for fundamental Canadian values and protect Canadians’ freedom of speech and belief.'
The question becomes...

how far back does Poilievre want to take us to return to so called 'Fundamental Canadian Values'. A hint is found in his use of 'freedom of speech', an American term, whereas in Canada we have 'Freedom of Expression'.
I'm sure he doesn't want to go all the way back to the time...

Slavery was legal in Canada. But just how far back to get to 'fundamental values'? Pre 1929, the year women were legally classed as persons for the first time in Canada? Or might it be the year all Canadian women had the right to vote? Most were 'given' that right after WW1 but..

of Rights and Freedoms enshrined in our Constitution in 1982. Harper loathed it because our Supreme Court is bound to make decisions based on what it prescribes. Going back to 'pre-Charter' time would get rid of a lot of annoying 'values'. All that would take would be...

The House of Commons, the Senate, and two thirds of the provinces representing over 50 percent of Canadians approving of removing it from our Constitution. Could that ever happen? Yes it could, under a Pierre Poilievre majority Government.

So, to sum up, in my opinion we need clarification from Poilievre. We need far more explicit definitions of what the 'fundamental basic Canadian values' are in his opinion.
This is his #2 priority. Don't for one moment take it lightly.

I am going to add this re the issue of disposing of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The infamous Keenan Bexte was literally drooling about the possibilities... but most CPC wouldn't be honest enough to admit that's their plan.
