At 11:30am on 8 August, 1981 IRA Volunteer Thomas McElwee from Bellaghy, south Derry dies at the age of 23 after 62 days on hunger strike with no company other than prison warders - colleagues of those who had brutalised, degraded and tortured him for three-and-a-half years. RIP

At 07:48am on 20 August, 1981 Mickey Devine (aged 27) from the Creggan, Derry dies in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh after 60 days on hunger strike. He was the tenth and last hunger striker to die. We remember Mickey and his brave comrades who changed the course of Irish History. RIP
