I have been following ISU golf for a little while and it got me thinking.. why are sports gendered? Why is there a women’s team and a men’s team? Especially in golf! Imagine how great we would be if we had one gold team with all of our star players

Illinois is the first state to eliminate cash bail. I think this is a positive change to our court system. People should not be imprisoned just because they are poor.

VERY disappointed in how the staff of the ISU school of theatre and dance handled the all school meeting. The staff continues to show that they do not care about the opinions and feelings of the students of color. Disappointed but not surprised

Learned so much from Career Competency panel on Friday the 13th. I learned so much from the alumni who graciously came and spoke to us

Excited to find myself at Kambui Olujimi’s The Rock that Cuts the Night in Two. This exhibition is an exploitation into the artists mind from 2005-2023. Excited to see the diverse collection of art Olujimi has to offer.

The first exhibit is composed of long exposure photos, highly edited videos, and colorful abstract paintings. The photos are meant to reflect depression era dance. The photos have a captivating movement.

This collection of pieces are called Endurance Diagrams and are meant to inspire performance art. As we explore the exhibit we can expect to see these Endurance Diagrams performed

Footage plays of Moonlight winning the academy award for best picture. I am not entirely sure what the purpose of it in the exhibit is. I am interpreting it as a celebration of black joy in media.

“Walk With Me” is a series of ink drawings memorializing Olujimi’s mentor Catherine Arline. Each drawing is based on one photograph of the artist’s “guardian angel”

My favorite section of the exhibit is QUARANTINE. These are ink drawings capturing the artist’s reactions to the Covid 19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests.

When Monuments Fall are watercolor paintings of Americas racist past. This is some of the first use of color in the collection. While you usually see America’s history in black and white, Olujimi shows oppression of African American people in full color
