The 142nd Medical Group welcomed new commander, Lt. Col. James Schroeder during a change of command ceremony over June drill weekend. The group's former commander, Col. James Dolan, will go on to serve as State Air Surgeon for Oregon. Congratulations, gentlemen!

We will conduct Independence Day flyovers for ceremonies at locations throughout NW OR and SW WA. All passes will be approx. 1,000 feet above ground level and ~400 mph airspeed. Flights could be canceled or times changed due to inclement weather or operational contingencies.

Last month, Col. Damon Armitage retired from the Oregon Air National Guard after 24 years of service. Armitage most recently served as the State Air Surgeon, and previous to that, served as the 142nd Medical Group Commander. Congratulations, Sir!

PSA: 12 F-15 aircraft from Fresno, CA are here at Portland ANG Base to conduct daily training along with our pilots until the 18th of July. During this time, we will be flying a higher volume of aircraft in and out of the base on a daily basis, with the exception of weekends.

142nd Wing Eagles conducted Air-to-Ground “strafe” training with the F-15C and EX at the Boardman Naval Training Facility last month. This was the first time the EX 20mm cannon was fired in training and is a crucial first step for the Redhawk’s emerging Multi-Role mission.
