The obsession with Mph is ruining high school and college level pitching. Kids no longer want to know how to be more effective or consistent. The question is always, "Will this help me throw harder?" Sometimes, you just don't have anything else in the tank, and that is ok.

If your training isn’t focusing on 1 of these 4: 1. Walking less batters 2. Inducing weak contact 3. Striking out more batters 4. Improving health and longevity you are wasting your time. It’s really that simple. FLATGROUND Pitching

The side step walk out test helps evaluate hip joint mobility and groin flexibility. This shows if a pitcher has the ability to stride and spectate their feet. To be effective, a pitchers stride should be at least 85% of their height.

Long toss should be a feel, not a script. Have an idea of how far you want to go, but listen to your body. Does your arm not have 120ft in it today? That's fine work as far as you can but make every throw count. Intent and focus can accomplish a lot on those days!

Rest and recovery are not lazy. Sometimes, your arm needs a break, listen to it. On days when you can not physically do the work, devot some time to the mental side of the game. Study film, break down your mechanics, LEARN.

Baseball players should limit exercises that stress the anterior portion of the shoulders such as dips, barbell bench and chest flys, to name a few. Ask us why!!

Pitchers give yourself room on your offspeed pitches. There are very few counts and situations where a curveball in the dirt is the best option. Throwing it through the zone to draw a swing or dropping it in for a strike helps a lot more.

Set realistic goals for yourself. These can help you keep things in perspective as you work through your season/off-season. You don't have to take giant strides everyday. Sometimes the days you achieve the least you learn the most.
