Cadet NCOs are our future staff & community leaders, which is why their development is really important! Recently, our team spent the weekend at Windermere - learning new skills and cementing their bond with some amazing AT activities. Huge well done for completing the course!

Congratulations to Sgt Robson and Cdt McCabe for placing third in their respective age categories at yesterday's Inter Squadron climbing competition. Their skills are testament to the regular climbing sessions available to all of our members in lieu of a standard parade night!

13 cadets have returned from our Wing Activity Centre after a fun filled day! Enjoying a great mix of activities from across the RAFAC syllabus, our cadets were able try their hand at something new & exciting with lots of smiles and laughter... Look out for future trips on CP!

A huge well done to our team for representing us at the recent Inter Squadron skill at arms competition! The competition, held at RAF Boulmer, is a much anticipated event and includes a 25m shoot and scored Weapon Handling Test (WHT). As always, thank you to event organisers!

Last weekend, we were joined by @1338sqnATC at the fantastic Yorkshire Air Museum - formally RAF Elvington! The museum has so many amazing exhibits including a Nimrod, Victor, Halifax and DC3 - what better way to spend a Sunday? Interested? We're recruiting now!

Last weekend two of our cadets completed their initial training on the L81A2 Cadet Target Rifle. This training qualifies them to try out for the Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting and compete against tri-service cadets from across the UK at NRA Bisley - a hearty well done!

Well done to all cadets who participated in our introduction to mountain biking day! They were able to practice, and perfect, technical skills using the purpose built training loop at Hamsterley Forest - ready to take on more challenging routes. Look out for the next trail day!

This weekend, cadets completed their expedition training in readiness for the Duke of Edinburgh season! Running concurrently, cadets also had the opportunity to experience comms, leadership, archery & MTB on an activity camp. Well done to all participants - a wonderful weekend!

Last night, we welcomed AS1 Emma Dullroy to the Squadron for a wonderful presentation on her RAF career to date. Cadets were able to ask lots of questions and get a real feel for RAF life for the perspective of a recent 111 cadet NCO! Well done Emma, it was great to catch up!

Sticking with tradition, our Easter exercise was a great success! 13 cadets have just completed entry level fieldcraft to prepare them for future campaigns. Who knows where the next exercise may take them… Wishing everyone a happy Easter 2025!

What did you do this Easter break? Yesterday, three cadets enjoyed a 30 minute Tutor flight around North Yorkshire... Our cadets have also shot the L81, experienced a fieldcraft day and will end their break with an L98 range. If you're ready to join us, get in touch today!

Well done to our NCO team for representing us at the annual @DNWaircadets challenge last weekend! The challenge welcomes cadets from across the Wing to compete in several AT activities such as archery, trekking, MTB & first aid. Congratulations to 234 Squadron on their victory!

On Friday, we spent a wonderful parade night honing the mountain bike skills! 6 cadets have now completed their GoMTB level 1 award and are now ready to step up to the challenges at Hamsterley and beyond... Congratulations to all participants - see you on the trails!

Last week, 7 cadets visited Grundfos Manufacturing in Sunderland to get an insight into STEM and the world of manufacturing. The visit was organised by CI Phipps as part of our wider Special Events Programme which sees cadets visit museums, exhibitions & workplaces - thank you!

Last night saw the first of our Summer paddle evenings take place in Durham! Cadets were able to take to the water in various craft and enjoy an inspirational journey on the historic River Wear... Evening sessions are now a staple of our Training Programme - check Cadet Portal!

Congratulations to our cadets who have just completed their 12 hour Youth First Aid course! The St John Ambulance course prepares cadets to deal with many situations including bleeding, severe allergic reactions and resuscitation. Well done for a great, practical, weekend!

An amazing weekend for two of our cadet NCOs who travelled to RAF Boulmer for a Wing Bronze fieldcraft course! The course even featured an overnight bivouac under the stars... Well done on completing a very sought after activity!
