Freezing rain/drizzle and periods of sleet continue across the area early this morning, especially across Newberry, Fairfield, and Lancaster Counties. This combined with temperatures in the 20s this morning will bring continued dangerous travel conditions. #caewx #scwx #gawx

This storm is not over yet! Travel is difficult in spots due to the freezing rain that has already fallen. With temperatures below freezing across our forecast area, we remain concerned about additional freezing rain especially across the Northern Midlands (areas in red). (1/2)

The next round of precipitation is moving into our western counties. Temperatures remain at or below freezing across much of the our forecast area meaning this should fall primarily as freezing rain. In addition, gusty winds are also possible with the line. #CAEWx #SCWx #GAWx

We currently have sleet at the Lake Murray Dam. More precipitation is coming in and we have some very foggy conditions. If you need to be out on the road remember to turn on your headlights, slow down, and keep both hands on the wheel. #schp #trafficalert #weatheralert

TRAFFIC ALERT - Snow, sleet, and dropping temperatures are causing road conditions to worsen in Town of Lexington SC with snow turning to ice on roadways, especially secondary roads. If out on the road, drive alert, watch your speed, and give yourself additional stopping distance.

Several heavy bands of snow are developing across the area. A quick snow band with low visibilities is moving through Augusta with another broad band heading northeast up I-20. Rates prior to these bands were not very impressive and limited some totals so far.

Heavy snow bands continue to move across the eastern Midlands. Temps are now in the low 20°'s so roads are getting very icy quickly. Here's I-20 near Bishopville & secondary roads will be worse as temps drop.

Extremely cold temperatures in the single digits and teens will put a strain on South Carolina’s electric power grid during tomorrow’s morning hours – especially between 4-10 a.m.   In the morning, if large numbers of customers crank up the heat too quickly, or run their washing
