COMMENTARY ON CVE-2020-0601: I have been speaking to several players on this on background and there are a few things they want to highlight / clarify based on the public discourse so far.

The windows vuln is ultimately a flaw of excessive flexibility and excessive algorithm agility. The flaw is a "feature" of TLS where you can define a custom elliptic curve. Noone does that in practice.

hanno See cr.yp.to/newelliptic/ni… (from Tanja Lange and me), which says in §1 that "unnecessary complexity in ECC implementations" creates "ECC security failures", and says in §11 that allowing run-time curve choices causes "obvious damage to implementation simplicity". Told ya so.
