It took us a couple of hours to move over from using Whisper via OpenAI to Sagemaker on AWS - all motivated by having access to few more parameters that OpenAI's API wasn't exposing.

Definitely one of the redefining moments of consumer Internet products.

It felt magical even with way fewer features. It got the differentiators right in the first go. And it had a GTM that was dictated by technical constraints but in hindsight was brilliant.

One of the biggest short comings of 'prompt engineering' for LLMs seems to be the inability to compose using well abstracted sub-parts. Without composability the compounding effect and hence the ability to build increasingly complex outputs is limited.
