As soon as I got on the Rez last night my Lyft driver asked "is where native people live?" I kindly answered "yeah this is what you would call a Rez" then he said "oh wow.. dangerous."

My biggest pet peeve is when people say "quit being a Facebook warrior. Posting about an issue won't do anything."

The fact that the American justice system attempts to pass off "being fired" as a consequence for literally murdering a human being, tells you all you need to know about racism.

As my father explained during his lifetime, a riot is the language of the unheard.

Sometimes you need to hold yourself accountable. That's growth.

We have to believe change is coming.. if we stop believing, the oppression continues. Never allow them to take away our hope.

Everyone just wanna comment on my posts today lol. As Indigenous people it's so important to hold eachother accountable. Sometimes it's not about us and that's ok. We need to know how to be the allies that we want when we are fighting for the lives of our people.

Social movements are a trendy until you have to address your own white privilege.

I'm riled up.

Now is the time to reflect. Now is the time to check your privilege. No one is exempt from perpetuating anti-black racism. Take time to learn about black history and how society got here. Learn past what you already know. Now is the time. Change your views.

As much as I love to give to others. I need to remember to give to myself too.

It bothers me so much when our own people don't take the time to learn how to be an ally.

We shouldn't ask ourselves "y do black movements get more attention than Indigenous movements?" We should ask ourselves "how can we do better and learn from the strength of the black community"

My moms journey in justice actually started as her training to become an RCMP officer. She said she had to deal with some hard cases and realized she wants to help our people, outside of enforcing a oppressive law.
