When I occupied a building at Berkeley in 2009, the university’s spokesperson told CNN that there weren’t any students inside the building. Of the 43 of us, there were 2 non-students: a Democracy Now cameraman and the partner of a student.

It would really be helpful if journalists and politicians knew the difference between something being nonviolent and something being non-disruptive or legal. I'm not even getting into nuanced debates about force. Just knowing the very very basics would be extremely helpful.
