The amount of support I have received these past few days has been truly overwhelming. Although I haven't responded to most comments, I feel seen and heard. 💛 Accountability has to come next.

Back at #SAHS2024 for the final day and listening to Yusra Abdullahi talk about how Uganda's President Milton Obote used the United Nations as a forum to oppose white minority rule in Rhodesia.

It's been a nice respite from all the chaos lately to be in South Africa this week. Presenting at University of Johannesburg on the Rhodesian polycrisis at the UN was a delight. Thank you for having me, Southern African Historical Society. #SAHS2024

I am home for the summer, and of course I had to pay a visit to the Radio Muqdisho archives. The Radio Mogadishu audio archive is currently being digitalised after being stored in analogue format for more than 60 years, and it houses so many historical gems!

I spent the day in the The National Archives looking for materials for my Obote/Rhodesia chapter before AfricanStudiesUK kicks off, where I'll be presenting 4(!) papers later this week. It's always fun combining conferencing and research!

It was great presenting my paper at the Vernacular Humanitarianisms conference today in beautiful Kilifi, where I got to share some insights on how Somali-Ugandans navigated COVID-19 through mutual aid practices underpinned by Soomaaliniimo. Thanks for the invite, Nauja Kleist!
