Anyone have an explanation for this perfect circle of bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) in this lochan? Is there a perfect circle of deeper water that the bogbean can’t grow in? Has it just yet to colonise that centre bit? Did something swim in circles & knock out a bunch?

Took a trip up to Cray Moss to record some audio (new podcast incoming) and saw my first cloudberry of the season (the plant, not the actual berry). Also saw my first swallow of the season but they move a bit faster than plants...

It's an important time of year for ground nesting birds , not just in our beautiful bogs. Keeping canine friends isn't just about being mindful of livestock so please pay attention to notices asking you to keep dogs on leads in areas of open ground, wetlands and around the coast

This week, our team found a tailless Common during our visit to kingsdale head farm 🦎

Did you know this is part of their incredible defense strategy?

It sheds its own tail to escape from predator's or distract them for a quick getaway
