I honestly never want to see another cultural appropriation war bonnet thread in my life as long as there are mutual aid needs of Native survivors sitting unmet.

If Natives got same engagement on mutual aid as ppl give viral 'cultural appropriation' react posts, we wouldn't need 'discourse' to 'raise awareness' in the first place.

I'm not just mad at indiv influencers or opportunist. I'm mad at the echo chamber ivory tower. To let them smile in my face by using my family's trauma for 'academic discourse' and think that comes with no expectations or responsibilities to ppl actively exploited.

Cultural appropriation discourse is so high engagement that folks know they get rewarded for recycling old convos. Data mining ,marketing economies encoyrage anything high engagement. But to stop rewarding the colonizer , redistribute wealth back to Natives.

Anytime u see the war bonnet consumption, go seek out a mutual aid initoative of a Native survivor who needs support, for me. And make sure those goals get met.

Something about the way mutual aid is applied online, leaving Native ppl defeated, knowing if they dont get a hypervisible creator to host to garner attention, their needs will Stay at zero...and they aren't wrong. Hence why I'm helping a Native survivor who's not hypervisible.

Settler paternalism, saviourism and bad faith clout exploiters don't want everyone to know this though.
