We’d like to take a moment to thank the landowners who conserve and enhance wildlife habitat on western landscapes. Without open ranchlands, many of Wyoming’s migratory species could not move between seasonal ranges.

Is it spring yet? The late-season snows we've been having in Wyoming the last couple of days might have some mule deer longing for that carpet of tasty green food and easy walking to come sooner rather than later. Until then, winter will be calling the shots.

Mule deer are “picky” eaters, or what we call 'browsers.' In fall and winter, up to 90% of a deer’s diet may be shrubs and trees like mountain mahogany, sagebrush, bitterbrush, aspen, and chokecherry. These plants help animals survive as they slowly burn fat and wait for spring.
