Alexander I died in 1124.

It's said that in 1123 he was forced to shelter from a storm on Inchcolm, in the the Firth of Forth. He vowed to build a monastery on the island as thanks for his salvation. David I carried out his brother's wish.

There's roadside maintenance happening in Holyrood Park.

Tomorrow (Wed 24 Apr) the Galloping Glen is closed 9.30am-1.30pm.

On Thursday (25 Apr) Duddingston Low Road is closed 9.30-2.30pm.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, cyclists should dismount.

An array of siege engines was involved, including a monstrous weapon known as the 'War Wolf'.
