Plan small steps over big steps.

Have everything under control as you work

How?

- Break Down Projects. Smaller tasks or user stories.

Problem-Solving Success

How do you solve your problems in GIS?

My idea: Start with the solution, not the tool!

Most of us think of a tool to use to solve a problem but instead, we should start with finding the solution and then decide which tool to use.

The solution-first

Every GIS user should know the different categories of geospatial software.

What do they represent? why? how?

Here they are;

1. Proprietary Software. They often require a license fee to use.

Many years ago, we learnt about MapWindow and used it for a while.

A few months later, we developed a custom solution to suit our needs (our own GIS)

We later learnt about Quantum GIS (known as QGIS today). We explored it inside-out and became our go-to GIS.

Avoid common mistakes when seeking help as a developer.

Seeking help as a developer? Remember, how you ask can make all the difference.

Do this:

How did you find your passion?

You can find or create your passion. I prefer the latter.

How?

-Get good at something
- Identify something that bothers you
- Get good at it
- Like it
- Improve it

What can you do now?

- Start where you are
- Embrace failure

Polygon vs Multipolygon fields

When writing code, these two fields can really confuse you as you try to visualize the data. Always note the differences in the polygon's exterior ring. It can save you hours/days of hassle.

Questions I get often.

'I am a graduate of GIS and having graduated from University I'm passionate about the field but I haven't found my feet in this field. Would you help me to navigate the path ahead and know what to focus on?'

I have received many of these questions. Here

As a GIS developer, should I learn React, Vue or Angular?

My response(s):
- Focus on JavaScript
- Start with React or Vue
