Michael A. Arouet This map shows the cultural rot that socialism caused. Living standards are undeniably higher everywhere on the map, but now you have to work for it. Socialism creates this prison mentality where, since work can't bring much betterment, work is seen as a fool's errand. It's

Postoje bajke o uspješnom samoupravnom socijalizmu, prosperitetu i sretnim ljudima. Istina pak govori o državi koja je bankrotirala i ekonomskom sistemu koji je krahirao. Sam od sebe. Državu je pokušao spasiti Ante Marković. Kako? Pa uvođenjem kapitalizma, kako drugačije.

In 1991, Milton Friedman made predictions about the War on Drugs that sounded completely insane at the time. 33 years later, every single one came true with terrifying precision. Here's how a Nobel laureate saw what nobody else could: 🧵

A government is the “biggest gang,” with a local monopoly on violence. It’s good at preventing and stopping things. It’s bad at building and running things. Its main job is law and order, and a government which fails at that, is a failed government.

A big part of why society keeps drifting away from capitalism is that people don’t actually know what capitalism is. They look at cronyism, corporatism, plutocracy, or oligarchy, systems where wealth is tied to political pull or state favoritism, and call that capitalism. But

China hands down has the "how", I don't know if it has the "why". My guess is no. Still, if it doesn't grab Taiwan within the next 10 years one way or another, I would be surprised.

We cannot understand the true nature of the Universe, unless we question deeply. I want to know what is real, even if the answer is total obliteration of my consciousness.

Some truth here, theres a lot of perspective, although centuries spent fighting for survival between a hammer and an anvil of surrounding empires made most of these cultures quite far from being very open. Open cultures often rose in places that were somehow geographically on

The UAE has always stood firmly against terrorism in all its forms, and wherever it occurs. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the recent attack near Jerusalem. Violence should never be the answer. Our thoughts are with all the innocent lives affected.

Terrorism has no cause, no dignity, no justification. Targeting civilians (anywhere) is not resistance. It is a crime. The attack near Jerusalem is a painful reminder of how extremism derails any path to peace. I stand with every innocent life lost to political violence. Enough

Today is the first anniversary of the famous Draghi report asking for boosting innovation and reducing regulations in Europe. Can you name anything that the EU has done since then in these areas?

The best explanation for why people do not understand how to solve the growth/redistribution dilemma is that compulsory education is heavily left-biased throughout Europe. They skip the growth part. Not a surprise when compulsory education is predominantly government tax funded.

Innovation can always topple any monopoly. I wish all anti-trust minded people understand it for good. Just give it time. 8/10 top market cap stocks were startups 20 years ago. Top stocks in 1980s were startups a few decades earlier. "Any monopoly" means even the state.

India belongs with the West. I've been working and socialising with Indians for 25 years as close associates and friends and I always found the values to be shared and the mentality to be compatible. This is evident also from the persistence of their democracy, from the number
