Scotland's media bods gather outside Bute House this lunchtime ahead of Humza Yousaf's expected resignation as First Minister.

Useless from @scotrail - no trains whatsoever between Edinburgh and the Borders tonight, no replacement bus service, and Borders Buses X95 stops at 18.40. How on Earth are people meant to get home? Do you pay for hotels?! Sick of unreliable public transport. cc Fiona Hyslop

Reflecting on hundreds of people's 'takes' on recent events in Scottish Politics. An observation: the problem with 'the first rule in politics is...' statements is that everyone seems to have a different first rule. Who's speaking up for the twenty-ninth rule in politics?

Outstanding questions:

1) does Ross Greer mean just him, or all Green MSPs?
2) does Green MSPs' confidence in the Scottish Government extend beyond a hypothetical VONC outcome where Humza Yousaf wins?

This is important for policy delivery. We must move beyond this ASAP.

Was there not a ยฃ196m cut to the capital budget for affordable house building in this year's budget? Similarly the Woodland Grant Budget was slashed by 41% and we were subsequently told there was not a PENNY more available

A new Programme for Government is exactly what's needed, as I said yesterday. Totally agree with Scottish Wildlife Trust. But an even more urgent need is for the melodrama in the Holyrood bubble to stop so we can get a PfG that isn't torn up within weeks. Scotland's nature deserves no less

With the Bute House Agreement between The SNP and Scottish Greens over, we can't afford weeks of Holyrood bubble melodrama; we need a new Programme for Government which provides certainty for Climate, Nature, People by listing what policy remains on the table and what doesn't.

I like this. The reasons that people have an aversion to saying the words 'I don't know' in professional settings are varied and personal, but I'd like to hear it more, because sometimes it's just true that you don't know. We don't all know everything.

He can say what he likes with impunity because he offers cheap travel out of a country where the weather has been miserable for months and the social contract is totally broken. Doesn't make it any less disturbing or nasty, though.

With a Scottish Government commitment to continued EU alignment any change in CAP is worth noting. Flexibility in future policy is crucial, first and foremost we need a policy that works for Scotlandโ€™s farmers & helps them to adapt to climate change and deliver food security

Perhaps if life weren't so miserable for millions of people in the UK, as a result of social and economic policies, they wouldn't be seeking medical help to deal with the 'everyday worries of life.'

Just a thought.

Addressing the climate crisis is essential, not optional, and Scotland deserves a credible Just Transition routemap for from its politicians.

Thanks to Forestry Journal for reporting on today's Net Zero Scotland 2030 announcement ๐Ÿ‘‡

Where are all our MSPs during this most important of statements?! Jaw-dropping level of absence from the chamber. Clearly there must be something more important going on.

Great start to Scottish Government climate statement - chamber only 1/4 full and Presiding Officer begins by pointing out leaks to media before parliamentary statements are not the way to govern.
