Winter's bark (Drimys winteri) is in full bloom now, in the South American Area! The bark of this lovely evergreen tree was used by early sailors to prevent symptoms of scurvy. Seeds were collected in 1983 by former garden director Dr. Robert Ornduff in Chile. #ucbg
