How will you start off this school year? Keeping in mind the stress & trauma our students may have experienced while away, routines should emphasize relationship building & #coping skills. Circle time or homeroom could be a great place to learn, express, & practice.

It is crucial we make the distinction between Self-Regulation and Self-Control. Otherwise the default explanation is that children are either 'good' or 'bad'. With that comes flawed assumptions about a child's genes, character, learning and life potential.

For a G2 S who continues to struggle with the concept of rhyme, adding in that extra layer of a visual orthographic comparison to see the spelling pattern. After a few exposures she started listening more for those middle and ending sounds. Prince of Wales ES HWDSB Reading Specialists
