Proposed cuts to the Sth Australian Museum expose a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of a museum. If it shifts to simply a visitor experience, a crucial responsibility of gov't is abandoned. South Australian Museum researchers: deep thanks for your inspiration & insights over many yrs

🌹🐾Behold! The most magical #ValentinesDay date... a 5.22g male #fattaileddunnart . This young #dunnart is likely around 70-80 days old, and has recently left mum to find a new territory. He won't become sexually mature until 210 days old... ready for next breeding season!
Already known for mating to death, the antechinus has now also been documented engaging in cannibalism: 'The males drop dead, which provides an opportunity for cheap energy gain for still-living males and pregnant or lactating females.'
