"Bulging Disc"..."Ruptured Disc"..."Slipped Disc"....."Prolapsed Disc"...."Burst Disc"... The correct term for all of these is a "Disc Herniation" & should be the term used to avoid confusion (and adding stress to the patient). Here are the different types in the lumbar spine🧵

Very few meet resistance training guidelines (2 sessions per week). So are the benefits less with only 1 session? Here, older adults (aged 69) did 1 or 2 eccentric resistance training sessions per week. Just 12 minutes per session. Improvements after 12 weeks: ✅

Youth athletes should not experience low back pain during sport. Early identification of a bone stress injury could mean the difference between bone union and non union. Help me raise awareness in athletes, parents, coaches and clinicians. #itsneverthemuscle

A great first day at the inaugural UKCCIIS - IOC Research Centre of Excellence conference in Edinburgh. Great to see so many sports represented working towards injury and illness risk reduction in sport.

A great line up of talks day 2 UKCCIIS - IOC Research Centre of Excellence and discussion on injury prevention in women's rugby. Coaches are more likely to implement Ix prevention interventions if educated not just on the "what" but also the "why".
