When I was reporting on my recent Mark Daigneault profile, his college roommate claimed that Mark called the Red Sox comeback before they won a game.

“(Mark) turns and says, ‘they’re gonna win,’” he told me. “I’m like, ‘what are you talking about? They’re down 0-3.’ He’s like,

Takeaways from last night: On an offensive night that Jalen Williams diagnosed differently than most, Luka’s masterclass, and why Shai continues to be OKC’s most reliable offense:

Mark Daigneault changed his starting five, but that alone didn’t solve the Thunder’s offensive woes.

Jalen Williams: “I think sometimes I should probably force a little more. But I’m big on playing within the team, like we've been doing all year.”

'I think (I’m) sometimes getting caught up in trying to create for others the whole game. It’s a balance that I’m still trying to

FWIW, Mark Daigneault had a similar sentiment: “I wasn’t, like, bursting with joy with 92 points. But I do think we’re on the right track in terms of how we’re attacking and now we just gotta continue to get better and trust that good shots will fall.”

Jalen Williams: “This is probably gonna sound crazy because we didn’t shoot it well, but I thought our offense was really good.”

Daigneault on swapping Giddey for Joe in the starting lineup: “It gave us the chance to get into some normal attacks on offense.”

Mark Daigneault on JDub and Chet: 'There's no player, regardless of where they are in their career, that doesn't struggle in the playoffs at different times throughout the course of a series. ... Those guys are going to bounce back. They're really good players that we have a ton

Thunder drops Game 5, 104-92, and now faces elimination headed to Dallas in a few days. Unfathomable shooting night — 42.5% FG, 10 for 40 from 3. More of the same with the work load: Shai has 30-6-8, and was basically the only consistent factor for much of the game.

A Luka 3 — his fifth — puts the Mavs up 18 with 9:30 to play. He’s had his hands all over this game. The lobs, the tough shots, the reads. Now he’s trying to end this himself.

Thunder just needs more from Jalen Williams. It needs the creator and tough shot maker it had at its disposal this season.

79-67 Dallas after 3. Feels like another one of those leads that seems heavier than it reads.

OKC and the Mavs have been on opposite sides of the spectrum in efficiency. Would take something to change that from the first three quarters, but OKC is only 8 for 29 from 3.

The Shai show again. He’s got 14 in the quarter. Only other teammate with more than one FG in the third is Giddey, who has four points.
