This cow had twin Charolais X bull calves last year… this year she’s done it again! 👏🏼👏🏼
Twin bull and heifer calves
Some lass 🐮🥳
Bringing them down to the shed as one falling slightly behind the other on the hill, so in for a few days of bonding

Also realise I’ve shared zero lambing content so here we are:

Been a busy one. Weather terrible, very fortunate to have the shed space to bring in more than we’d planned. Impressed with the South Country Cheviots, held condition through it all & popping out cracking little lambs

Making the best of a bad situation.
We had a 4 week old calf drop dead on the hill. Nothing obvious, no scour, no pneumonia. Strong calf, shiny coat. We thought she’d never take a calf after knowing her own for 4 weeks. But everything is worth a try, and this one worked out!

A horrendous week weather-wise, but calving 2024 has kicked off here & these Luings make easy work of calving on the hill ground. We have our first 20 calves now, another 82 to go. Hopefully we get some drier weather for them, but currently everyone taking it in their stride.

10 points to Gryffindor if you spot our one and only black North Country Cheviot ewe 👀🐑

Fingers crossed she has a black ewe lamb this year that can stay in the flock as a replacement 🤞🏼

Thank you Farmers Guardian for sharing our story. We don’t think we’re doing anything particularly special, but if this read inspires any other young farmers to keep pushing towards their goals then that’s fantastic. We had many rejections before we got to where we are.

Happy New Year from some blummin’ happy cows! 🐮😁
This group are running on 250 acres of hill ground that was rested from June-November. This has meant no need for feeding bales at all from mid-November until now 🤠

We’ve had all weathers this December 🌨☀️☔️💨 snow, sun, flooding, hurricane winds… you name it!
Despite the weather, our cattle (including heifers) are out-wintering brilliantly. All the best for the New Year when it comes. Health and happiness for 2024 🎄🥂🐑 🐮 🐾

Boxing Day pups 🐶🎄🎅

(Anyone who has ever tried to get a photo of pups looking in the same direction at the same time will know how long it took to get this shot 😅)

Merry Christmas from our family to yours. Quiet one here, still the usual farm jobs to do - Christmas dinner was an evening meal by the time we got finished.
Father Christmas delivered 5 bantam hens to our little one, she is delighted.
All the best x
