I’ve seen two tweets today arguing that nurses can get on an ambulance and operate with equivalency to a paramedic with the “right training”. Two things:

1. Yes they can! The “right training” is a paramedic science degree

2. What is the obsession with doing each others’ jobs?

I think one factor contributing to losing staff - Paramedics specifically - to other settings in the UK ambulance service is the inability to advanced and expand your practice, without having to change patient case load.

Callum Absolutely - likey the easiest first win for this would be to mandate ACP discussions for patients going into any care facility. The amount of patients in NH etc that have had no discussion around CPR is insane-generally extensive co-morbidities are central to admission!

Today’s joy of parenthood: 4y/o had a meltdown on the way out of swimming because jumpers are evil 🤷. Walking out with a screaming child over my shoulder and she made eye contact with some dude coming in to use the gym and screamed “I’ve got lots of bogies!!!!”
