Sometimes some poems just blow me away

I’m very pleased to have a poem in the new issue of Impossible Archetype today. ‘Pencil Sketch of Myself as a Ruin’ is another of my widowhood poems. This one explores the sense of being left both broken and isolated, while life seems to go on as normal for others.

I’ve realised that poetry can’t be taught-if you’re an aspiring good poet you can learn the mechanics but that instinct with certain perfect lines-that’s inborn artistry. Truly great poets reproduce it time after time-I just fumble. Frustrating and humbling to read great poetry.

Congratulations to everyone on this list! Saw Corinna Board and Frances Boyle this will be a fabulous list!

Went back to work today and I’ve come home super sensitive about everything. Good poems are making me tingle and my own poems in progress are making me angry. Also waiting for stuff…not a comfortable state of mind.
