Look, all I’m saying is any film that features a sentient pop tart filled with sea monkeys and raised by a Nazi scientist and Chef Boyardee is doing something right.

Ecclesiasticus44 Michael Haneke Paneke I've said this elsewhere: Seinfeld exudes a disregard bordering on contempt for anyone's opinion of him and his work that some modern critics are personally offended because his indifference is so observably authentic

And they can't stop themselves from overreacting over this

My wife and I have SWITCHED SIDES on our bed, which means we switched which half of the room we keep our stuff on, which means I had an excuse to set up my bookcase:

Michelle Kosinski Probably because they got the idea that you’re the kind of person who would do a 10 tweet thread on the fact that you went to dinner with people who have different politics than you do.

Which adaptation of David Nicholls’ “One Day” do you prefer?

A) The charming little movie from 2011, that was a tight 100 minutes and had big movie stars in it? OR

B) The streaming tv show from 2024 that is 7 and a fucking half hours long and ‘stars’ Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod?

I love that MZS’s go-to example of a director who kept politics out of his movies and just cared about keeping them light and funny is *Joe Dante* lol.

Regret to remind everyone that in 2018, Kendrick Lamar was the first person from a genre other than jazz or classical to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music. And while his lyrics then weren't this abjectly bad, uh, they were not good either.

Just saw Hereditary. Like Midsommar, interesting but flawed. The most noteworthy quality of Aster is his total rejection of Christian modernist conceits. There is no good / evil dichotomy in his films, no moral linearity; all the energies coalesce into one pagan cycle.
