🏙️ Last week we supported a multi-agency ‘week of action’ across town centres in #StokeonTrent. 8⃣ fixed penalty notices were issued for illegal dumping 3⃣8⃣ penalty charge notices were issued at traffic and parking hotspots 2⃣ encampments were removed in Longton and Hanley

Anyway, shall we find out what Stoke-on-Trent City Council leader Jane Ashworth thinks is “the worst thing” she has ever seen from the Tories in Stoke-on-Trent.

It’s this comment from Cllr Dave Evans and the subsequent departure from the council chamber by him and fellow Conservative councillors.

And if you’re wondering what prompted the Tories to walk out in the first place, it’s this motion from Cllr Chris Robinson:

🚧 Highway users are reminded to not tamper with any traffic management equipment around any work sites. 🚦 Equipment is in place to protect all road years and any member of the public removing them is putting themselves and others at risk.

People in our city are being evicted having done nothing wrong. 359 families turfed out, through no fault of their own, since they promised to sort it out. 20,000 people in our city at risk. Yet the Stoke Conservatives don’t think it’s worthy of their time. Shame on them.

👎 In doing so they’ve shown they’re not on the side of renters and hardworking families. 🌹 I support the call to end section 21 evictions and I am delighted that Stoke-on-Trent’s Labour Council passed the motion to support renters - DESPITE the shameful actions of the Tories.
