UNICEF Hon Lati Lelelit Lenaika-Surutia Samburu County Government Today, the UNICEF team led by Cecilia Scharp paid a visit to the exploratory borehole drilling site in Baragoi town, Samburu County. Here, UNICEF Kenya has successfully sunk a borehole to provide the local community with a reliable water supply.

The team also visited the Raraiti water project in Samburu East, where UNICEF , in partnership with the Samburu County Government, rehabilitated and solarized a borehole thanks to funding from Sweden in Kenya.

Mora Dongore, 25 years old, is seen with her son, Saimo Lupore, who is 1 year old, fetching water at Raraiti village. Mora says, "I used to walk 15 kilometers to get water, and the water we got was not clean. Thanks to UNICEF for bringing the water closer to us."

Mind the gap - investing in water. Time for all actors to come together and identify investable projects and invest in Africa’s water development.
