There's lots that welcome in this piece but forgive my scepticism. Starmer seems more than willing to ditch protection of the environment at the first sniff of trouble. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Never thought of going to the Isle of Wight before but fancy a spot of trespassing. You can’t call it the KCIII coastal path and then divert it inland round a palace.

Trucks are generally much better than some car drivers. Although quarry traffic in the Peak clearly gets very bored dealing with cyclists. I often muse that the last thing I ever read will be the words: Lomas Distribution.

A reminder that China literally disappeared a child in order to tighten its grip on an independent nation that it illegally occupies.

This, from a leader that legitimized Viktor Orban, normalized Donald Trump and signed off on Polands whitewashing of its role in the Holocaust.

I’ve voted Green on a few occasions because I’m appalled at what’s happening to the environment. But having heard the leader of the Scottish Greens trying to rubbish the Casa report I’m not going to do so again.

This is an egregious example, but I do wonder about conservation initiatives that lack forestry skills. Several examples here in the Peak of dead saplings and inept felling.

Parliament is running out of time to pass legislation to end the sale of precious peat bogs for garden compost which is important for nature and climate goals.

So this may fall to the next govt to take this forward.

If that's Labour, will you commit to this Wes Streeting MP?
