Last night was the darkest moment in the Adams administration.

We will never forget what your NYPD did to our students.

Columbia students have occupied Hamilton Hall numerous times and never (since 1968) was this kind of force used against students on campus. This was not some unusual or unheard of escalation on the part of the students as some are suggesting

I remind my fellow New Yorkers that Eric Adams only won the Democratic primary in 2021 by 7,197 votes. Our city has an abysmal voter turnout rate (21% of registered voters participated in the last Mayoral election). The next Mayoral election is in 2025. We must vote him out.

this point is frankly asinine. the criticism of jan 6th was not that they were breaking and entering any building on earth!! it was congress!!! in the middle of certifying an election!!!! where are our critical thinking skills, people!

if no one is seriously injured tonight -- a big if, judging right now -- it will be *in spite of* the militarized police presence.

minouche shafik put her students in grave danger tonight. disgraceful

Universities, like Columbia, must ask themselves, “under what conditions would they permit the police to kill one of its students or one of its faculty members.

Is Columbia willing to have police kill one of its students today? That is the gamble they’re taking.

you are a fundamentally bad person if you think this is a reasonable response to students protesting on their own campus

This is truly a moment for campus media, who know their own campus better than everyone else.

I’m listening to WKCR, the Columbia student radio station right now, and it’s another level of up-to-the-minute: cc-seas.columbia.edu/wkcr/#

WKCR reports police with sledge hammers and industrial equipment smashing their way into Hamilton Hall and tossing students out of their way.
