In 1907, the American Bison Society began transferring Bronx Zoo bison to protected lands in the American West to restore devastated populations. This helped bring these iconic animals back from the brink of extinction. (1/2)

The WCS #Archives is sharing this exciting news from the zoo! Snow leopards have been a part of the Bronx Zoo story since 1903. In this archival photo from 1978, @WCS General Director William Conway introduced a young leopard to Marlin Perkins, host of TV’s “Wild Kingdom.”
