I’m awake early, trying to tweet quietly in the pre-dawn dark of our bedroom with a rising sense of anticipation to discover just how much snow has silently and stealthily fallen outside while we slept. #uksnow

"To be a creative person, you need to 'feed' or 'invest' in yourself by exploring uncharted paths that are outside the realm of your past experience. Seek out new dimensions of yourself—especially those that carry a romantic scent." — Steve Jobs

The Greek word ‘phantasia’—meaning a vision or hallucination—is the origin of words like FANTASY and PHANTOM. In Latin, that root inspired a verb, ‘pantasiare’, that was used to mean to struggle to breathe while having a nightmare—and via French, ultimately gave us the word PANT.

Adopted into English from French in the 1200s, the word ABANDON was originally a two-word phrase, ‘à bandon’, essentially meaning ‘at will’, or ‘at discretion’. In that sense, it was originally an adverb, with the verb not recorded in English until around 200 years later.
