Waterfowl migration is well underway,
Many ducks will continue throughout April & May
Waterfowl migration in vibrant display
Watch as they settle on wetlands, reeds softly sway,
This duck has nested under the thistle fray!

Each year, millions of seabirds return to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in the North Pacific Ocean to nest and raise their young. Wisdom, with her well-known band number of Z333, has been doing this since the Eisenhower administration.

What, you can’t fly backwards?

The red-tailed tropicbird, or koa‘e‘ula, is amazing in the air. During aerial courtship, small groups of the seabirds will fly forwards and backwards in circles, mixing in vertical rises and dramatic dives.

Northern mockingbird are infamous tricksters with an ability to mimic other birds, frogs, and even cars! They may learn up to 200 songs throughout their life, and it takes a well-trained ear to catch them in the act.📷 Michael Schramm/USFWS
