Young people don't need national service. They need:
💚Safe school buildings
💚Policies to tackle the climate crisis
💚No tuition fees
💚Affordable homes & rent controls
💚No sewage on the beaches
💚Clean air
💚Education & skills for life
💚Votes at 16
💚Mental health support

If there is £2.5bn to spend on young people, it could be spent on:
- CAMHS
- SEND
- Supporting children living in poverty
- Fixing the RAAC crisis
- Recruiting and retaining teachers and support staff
- Increasing school budgets so they can afford the basics

Instead of ignoring fact that young people already volunteer & then spending £2.5b a yr on a National Service scheme for 18yr olds, why not use it to lift children out of poverty, invest in schools, fix the broken care system, and put cash into our mental health & youth services?

For the sake of the education we all love, if nothing else, vote and vote tactically to rid this country of these crooks for at least another 5 years. 👍

SATs do not improve Year 6 teaching - they restrict it.
SATs do not inform future learning - Secondary schools mistrust them.
SATs put huge pressure on schools, especially those in more deprived areas, or under Ofsted pressure.
SATs are just another accountability system.

I don’t think that Gillian Keegan MP has had a good morning, which is not a surprise if you turn up, as she does so regularly, unprepared for the most basic questions. Blether and bluster is her trademark and she’s been found out.

In fairness the government are doing their best to keep these words alive...

These children need our advocacy as their educators, they can’t wait for change. Their mental wellbeing should be prioritised above all else.
