Wow. I'm pretty sure my second year students have a better grasp after the lecture.

China's annual migrant worker survey is out, and, as ever, it's a banger. Just a few of the hits:
1. Migrant employment in the construction sector fell by 6.5 million in 2023, the largest annual decline since the survey started in 2008. 1/

And because it's the best editorial process in the discipline. As a three-time author I can vouch for the consistency of the journal's high standards.

What has become painfully obvious to me is that hardly anyone is genuine in their support of free speech. Universities are complicit of course in increasingly validating the view that speech is a form of violence, as this piece rightly states. ft.com/content/198902…

This is well worth a read on the shamelessness of elite university administrations - simultaneously branding themselves on the back of the 1960s protests and radical activism while unleashing the cops on students.
