That was not a mark. That was a touched point. There is no way that mark was controlled before the back of the behind line. The score reviewer has had an absolute mare there

If this first game is anything to go by, this Denver-Wolves series could end up being one of the all time great series. Holy moly!

Essendon’s last three games have been decided by a total of 9 points and they’ve lost none of them. Says something about their mental toughness in high pressure situations

Kudos to West Coast, and Tim Kelly in particular, who fought back really well in the second half. But also Essendon just went down the tubes after half-time. Astonishing transformation. So many stupid plays. Merrett, Martin and Parish saved them

The Goldstein 50m penalty, the Jake Kelly effort on the goal line, the Peter Wright weak effort in the pack when Jack Williams took the contested mark and now the Durham downfield all led to West Coast goals. Bombers doing their best to lose this

Gee whiz, Essendon got out of jail in that third quarter. Played some of the dumbest football they’ve played all year for an extended period and only lost the quarter by 7 points. If not for Merrett they’d be in a whole lot of trouble right now

Essendon playing with their food. Playing absolutely horrible football in the third quarter. Terrible skill errors, shocking efforts and West Coast making them pay

Problem for Essendon so far is that they’re not utilising their more threatening forward line as well as they could be. Delivery still off. Midfield dominating but didn’t getting full bang for buck in the first half

Bombers much better that quarter but scoreboard probably still doesn’t reflect their dominance. +38 disposals, +11 inside 50s & +7 scoring shots. Looking much more dangerous going forward than West Coast so far. Merrett, Durham, Martin, Parish having big impact

Essendon should really be up by 3-4 goals. Their defence has held up brilliantly but their forward delivery and kicking for goal has left a lot to be desired. Durham, Martin and Duursma have all started very well
