Annual cost of helping 23,000 hugely wealthy families by abolishing inheritance tax: £7.1bn

Annual cost of lifting 250,000 children out of poverty and reducing poverty for a further 850,000, by abolishing two child benefit cap: £1.3 billion.

We have the wrong priorities.

Let’s be honest: the main reason for the 32.5hr rule is to stop schools reducing to 4 day weeks to manage budgets.

It’s there as an anti-embarrassment pre-election policy, to be pulled out if a crackdown is needed.

Hence the government doesn’t really care how it’s achieved.

'80% of beaches in Cornwall issue raw sewage alerts. '

No matter what propaganda you hear from the water industry or their corporate shills this is the reality of what 30 years of failed industry, government and regulation has achieved

I'm delighted to feature in this Lexis podcast episode about language & gender, where I explain why Lakoff's pioneering Language & Woman's Place (50 years old this year) might still be worth discussing in A level EngLang--so long as it's put in context

Hands up who took a 'low value degree' & wouldn't be where you are without it. Hands up who thinks EVERY young person should have the opportunity to do the same. Hands up who thinks higher education shouldn't be reduced to 'produces high earners'.

Our members have demanded a better deal on pay, workload and working hours.

Ministers must now get back to the negotiating table to agree a deal that will command the support of our members or they will be responsible for industrial action in the autumn term.

The number of head teachers leaving before retirement is the highest it’s ever been.

It’s 4 x worse than in 2010. We need inspirational leaders for the future of children’s education.

Ok, let’s get this right… It’s an illegal mine, operating without a licence for 8 months, over which time the illegal coal has released close to a million tonnes of C02. But the police are arresting the protesters trying to stop criminal action. Hmmm. On whose authority?

Yesterday, I met a member who is from Belgium. She was on strike because her pay as a 🇬🇧 teacher is in continual decline.

Public Sector payrises in 🇧🇪 automatically track inflation. Teachers got a payrise of 11%.

Inflation in 🇧🇪 today is 4.15%

There was no 'wage price spiral'

Two and a half weeks until the end of term and we still cannot set a budget because you won’t release the pay information. You are causing stress and anxiety. We can’t plan activities for the children and you are letting them down. Gillian Keegan MP Robert Halfon MP ➡️Working Hard for Harlow⬅️ Department for Education
