Kudos to my longtime friend, former Arkansas Democrat colleague and horse-racing handicapper par excellence, Jeff Krupsaw (Jeff Krupsaw) for picking 18-1 shot Mystik Dan in the Kentucky Derby. Best handicapper at Oaklawn Park since the great Randy Moss.

Former QB Bob Avellini, a gritty overachiever whose 37-yard TD pass to Greg Latta with 0:03 left beat the Chiefs and sparked a mad dash to the playoffs in 1977, has died at 70. He's the last Bears QB to start every game in back-to-back seasons.

You should only have to break the plane of home plate to score. That would eliminate the question of whether the runner’s foot or hand tagged home plate or was just over the plate. It makes no sense that you can slide into the other bases that are above the ground, but not home.

The White Sox, who at 6-25 are on a pace to win 31 games in 2024, have to finish 50-112 or better to avoid having an overall losing record as an American League franchise for the first time since 1956. They currently are 9,559-9,516 (.501) since 1901.
