Happy 125th anniversary Wicken Fen!

This famous nature reserve was just a two-acre fragment of land when the Trust bought it for £10 in 1899. It is now 2,000 acres with over 9,000 species recorded – a wonderful example of what can happen when we give nature space to breathe.

A few bird records from Dartmoor today: 2 Cuckoos on Great Nodden - possibly male and female, 3-4 Cuckoos Emsworthy plus a calling Curlew nearby and a male Reed Bunting on the approaches to Amicombe Hill at 515 metres. Along with some Red Grouse droppings near the Blacka Brook
