Sheep come in all shapes & sizes with a wide variety of fleeces.

Due to its naturally crimped, zig-zag, structure, wool has a natural elasticity so wool garments have the ability to stretch comfortably with the wearer & then return to their original shape.

Wool does not add to the plastic pollution of the planet 🐏 ♻️ It biodegrades naturally in the land and ocean.

World Earth Day reminds us that tiny plastic fragments are infiltrating every part of human existence.

The lambing season continues, a time when farmers work around the clock to ensure the safe arrival of their new flocks. Sheep are in safe hands with farmers, who are a breed in themselves, who nurture & care for animals & the land each & every day 👩🏻‍🌾👨🏼‍🌾

Spring colours on the warp at @studiodonegal
Weaving is one of the oldest crafts in history, dating back some 12,000 years ago. In essence it’s still the same technique that used today & in the late 1700’s the invention of the power loom enabled textiles to be woven much quicker.

Wool grows naturally, it's a keratin protein fibre like human hair & is 100% natural, not man-made.
As long as there is grass, water, air, sunshine & farmers to nurture them sheep will produce a new fleece every year, making wool a renewable fibre source 🐏

The colours of Spring 💛 💚 ❤️ 💜 🧡
Vibrant & rich in colour, hand dyed to the core of the wool fibre by @felinfachcymru with natural dyes. The resulting colours from nature depend on where the dyestuff was grown, how it was harvested, how the fibre was dyed and the method used.

Spring has sprung. What a difference a day, a week, a month makes as nature wakes up from the slumber of winter in its abundance with blankets of daffodils, blossom on the trees and lambs appearing in the fields. Happy Easter 🐏🐰🐣

Indigo yarn dyeing outdoors is time consuming and the yarn needs to be dried before it’s rewound and twisted into skeins. Such a beautiful place to be in the outdoors and dyeing in Shetland @donnasmith02 Skeins can be purchased from her website. 🐑🐑💙💙
