Getting caught up on Fragile Juggernaut: A CIO Podcast. The Wagner Act episode with gabrielwinant, Emma Teitelman, and Eric Blanc is one of the most educational, insightful, and nuanced discussions I’ve listened to concerning the law’s passing and its effects. patreon.com/posts/10189967…

My article on the writing, intent, and modern-day merits of the Wagner Act has been published by the Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal. Many thanks to Prof. Nicole Porter and students of Chicago-Kent College of Law for their editing prowess: scholarship.kentlaw.iit.edu/erepj/vol27/is…

Fairly remarkable that major financial officials in college football are now openly pining for mass unionization and collective bargaining to solve the game’s economic woes. You only see this sort of behavior in the sports industry. espn.com/college-footba…

Lots of big stories in labor right now, including whether the UAW continues its winning streak at foreign-owned plants, but by far the most important is whether Volkswagen will accept the same contract that the Big 3 did last fall.

This great paper by Sammy Young & Sean Wang deservedly highlighted.

Documents union avoidance behavior by multi-site employers: shifting employment to other nonunion locations.

Also uses clever RDD extrapolation methods to avoid the problem of only looking at close elections

It’s natural to think that any Supreme Court opinion will have significant ramifications, but I actually think it makes sense to turn down the temperature on this one. I don’t think a “loss” for the NLRB would have much impact on 10(j) motions in practice—unless it’s overhyped.
